Police and Rangers have started enforcing strict lockdown in 41 union councils of Karachi.

According to details, the lockdown started at 7 o'clock in the sensitive USCs of different districts. Markets in Malir, Jaffar Tayyar, Jinnah Square were closed. Shops in Bahadurabad, Tariq Road, Cordoba Market and Sharfaabad were also closed.

Lockdown is being implemented at various hotspots in 41 USCs of the city. The hotspots of five union councils in Korangi and South districts, 17 union councils in eastern district, six union councils in western district, six union councils in Malir district and two union councils in central district have been locked down. Masks must be used in lockdown areas.

According to the notification, grocery and medical stores will remain open in sensitive areas, while all kinds of industrial units will remain closed in the lockdown area and all kinds of business activities will also be prohibited.

Home delivery and takeaway service of restaurants in sensitive areas will also be suspended, an individual from the home of the resident will be able to purchase essential items by showing an ID card. In addition, a caregiver will be allowed to accompany the patient from the sensitive area, while all private gatherings at home will be banned.

On the other hand, 22 hotspots have been declared in Rawalpindi and a complete lockdown has been imposed. The Punjab Home Department has issued a formal notification which will remain in force till June 30. Sensitive areas include 7 areas of Kent, including 15 areas of 7 Union Councils in Rawalpindi.

According to the notification, all private and government offices, shopping malls and business centers will remain closed in the areas to be declared hotspots and sealed. Public-private transport in these areas will be strictly prohibited and one person in a vehicle will be allowed conditional permission when needed.

The capital Islamabad today marks the first day of complete lockdown in I-8-3, 4 and Center while IT-1-2 and Center. Lockdown is already underway in G9-3 and Four, while locking down Ghauri Town, Lohi Bhair, G7 Two and PWD is being considered.

According to district administration sources, a proposed lockdown strategy is being worked out for four new hotspots, including Ghauri Town. Meanwhile, police sources said that lists of corona patients were being compiled in all the four sub-sectors and in both the centers.
