Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that 9,100 tests for corona virus have resulted in 2,487 new cases, accounting for 27.3 per cent of the total, while the number has risen to 738 after 42 more patients died so far. The situation is now alarming, the tragic report of the deaths of 42 patients in the last 24 hours has saddened me.
Commenting on Corona in detail, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that the provincial government has increased the capacity of tests and 9100 tests have been conducted out of which 2487 cases have been diagnosed at a rate of 27.3%. The highest diagnostic ratio is that which can be overcome with the cooperation of the people. He further said that 255617 tests were conducted out of which 43790 cases came to light, 42 more patients lost their lives and the number of deaths due to corona has risen to 738 after which the rate has gone up to 1.7 percent. "The death of 42 patients in the last 24 hours is the highest ever reported and it has saddened me a lot. At present there are 22045 patients undergoing treatment out of which 20471 are in homes, 48 in isolation centers and 1526 different They are being treated in hospitals. I am sorry to say that the condition of 493 patients is critical out of which 77 patients have been shifted to ventilators. Murad Ali Shah said that 1111 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours after which the number of recovered patients has reached 21007 which is 48.3%.
Murad Ali Shah said that after 15 days of Eid-ul-Fitr, the number of cases and deaths is increasing rapidly and on Wednesday we had 42 deaths which is the highest number of deaths so far. The number of patients has also increased 10 times in the last 15 days. According to Murad Ali Shah, 75% of the deaths were due to comorbidities and 75% were over 50 years of age. He also revealed that 34 deaths of health care personnel have been reported across Pakistan, 12 of them in Sindh. Regarding cases at district level, the Chief Minister said that out of 2487 cases, 1755 new cases have been reported in Karachi.
He further said that Eastern District 498, South District 443, Central District 409, Malir District 173, West District 117 and Korangi District 115 are included, Hyderabad has 80, Ghotki 69, Sukkur 43, Larkana 40, Sanghar 37, Khairur 29, Dadu and Jamshoro 25-25, Sujawal 23, Kashmore 22, Shikarpur 17, Mirpur Khas 13, Shaheed Benazirabad 13, Thatta 12, Qambar 11, Tando Muhammad Khan 11, Umerkot 9, Jacobabad 8, Badin 4, Tando Allahyar a new Cases have been reported. The Chief Minister Sindh said that the testing capacity of various labs has been increased 110 times from 80 to 9000. We have 21 labs in 9 different districts where tests are taken per million, 80 out of 225000 tests. Murad Ali Shah said that 203 designed hospitals with 8000 beds for corona virus patients have been set up in Sindh. We have provided 670 HDU beds with ventilators. 334 ICU beds have been set up and their facilities are being enhanced.
Concluding his statement, the Sindh Chief Minister said that his government has set up helplines 1021, 1025, 9123, 021-99204452 and 021-99206565 for the treatment and guidance of Kovid 19. He urged the people of the province to understand this precarious situation and avoid unnecessary expenditure and follow SOPs in real sense.
