Women cricketers central contract! Two new cricketers join team, Bismillah remains captain of well-known cricket team
Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the central contract of women cricketers for the next season.
Nine women cricketers are included in three different categories in this central contract. In the previous contract this number was 10 but this time Pakistan Cricket Board has introduced 'Emerging' category and added nine cricketers in it. This is after a long time. The first is a central contract that will not feature Sana Mir, who has retired from international cricket. She was in Category A in the previous Central Contract.
Growth and decline
In the new central contract, Bismillah Maroof has been included in the A category. She was included in the B category in the previous contract.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has also decided to retain Bismillah Maroof as the captain of the national women's cricket team for this season.
Bismillah Maroof had scored 213 runs in one-day internationals last season, while she had scored 236 runs in T20s.
Javeria Khan, who was in B category in the previous contract, has been promoted to A category. Last year, she was the highest run-scorer in T20 Internationals with 260 runs, including three half-centuries. Diana Baig has managed to make it from C to B category.
Nada Dar has been included in the C category this time. In her previous contract, she was an A category cricketer.
Chief selector Urooj Mumtaz hopes that Nada Dar will soon be able to overcome his recent disappointing performance as he is a key player.
Two new players Amima Sohail and Anam Amin have been included in the new central contract. Who will be included in the central contract?
Category A includes Bismillah Maroof and Jawariya Khan, Category B includes Alia Riaz, Diana Baig and Sedrah Nawaz while Category C includes Anam Amin, Nahida Khan, Nada Dar and Amima Sohail.
Pakistan Cricket Board has included nine players in the emerging category. The names of the players in this category are: Ayesha Naseem, Fatima Sana, Kainat Hafeez, Muneeb Ali Siddiqui, Najia Alvi, Ramin Shamim, Saba Nazir, Sadia Iqbal and Syeda Arub Shah.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 33 per cent increase in Central Contract's Category A compensation, while in Category B and C category it has been increased by 30 per cent and 25 per cent respectively. In addition, the match fee for domestic cricketers has been increased by 100 per cent and the daily allowance by 50 per cent.
Appointment of a new coach
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to renew the contract of Iqbal Imam, the coach of the women's cricket team, and said that a new coach would be appointed in this regard under the existing procedure.
The Pakistani women's cricket team is set to take part in the qualifying round of the ICC Women's World Cup this year. She will also take part in the Asian Cricket Council T20 Cup.
